Public Health Microbiology


The Ph.D. Program in Public Health Microbiology produces graduates with a high quality of knowledge and skills in theories and practices in a wide variety of Microbiology, Immunology, Biotechnology, and Molecular Biology involving in Health Sciences. The program provides students with research experience in areas of public health microbiology with an application in the prevention and control of infectious diseases. Graduates will be able to evaluate, analyze, and synthesize novel information on public health problems concerning interactions among microbes, hosts, and environments.

Objectives of the Program

Upon completion of the study, graduate students are able to:

  •    Adhere to ethics and morals in academic work and research
  •    Demonstrate knowledge and skills of public health microbiology
  •    Analyze, criticize and conduct research in public health microbiology
  •    Work cooperatively with responsibility and leadership
  •    Utilize information technology, mathematical analysis and communication skills

Applicants must have:

1. A Master's or Bachelor's degree of a discipline of Health Science, Biological Science or related fields e.g. Microbiology, Biology, Public Health, Nursing, Medical Technology, Pharmacology, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, or Agriculture with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
2. An English proficiency score meets the minimum scores required for admission: IELTS =3.0 or TOEFL-IBT =32 or TOEFL-ITP = 400.
** A minimum English proficiency score , IELTS =5.0 or TOEFL-IBT =61 or TOEFL-ITP =500 is required for graduation.
** Exemption from above conditions may be granted by the Program Committee under circumstances.

  •    Partial scholarship by Faculty of Graduate Studies (5 awards/year)
  •    The Royal Golden Jubilee (RGJ) Ph.D. scholarship by Thailand Research Fund
  •    Thailand Graduate Institute of Science and Technology (TGIST)
  •    Research scholarship for graduate students by National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT)
